wo made wo

There is an exhibition in Tokyo at the moment, Mural Art of the
Kotohira-gu Sho-in
(金刀比良宮書院の美) One of the artists represented is Ito Jakuchu (伊藤若冲). In
the short biographical sketch of his life is the following sentence:
狩野派にあきたらず中国の元、明をまでを貪欲に学んで行った。
'wo made' is not uncommon; I am not sure if 'made wo' is acceptable
but the above
combination took me quite by surprise.
Perhaps I have misread this, but I would like to know what native
speakers have to
say about this.
