Typically in high school one reads a few classic books.
I asked my Japanese tutor of several years back what one book she most
recommended I read.
In response she gave me a short collection of the works of the late
太宰 治 (だざい おさむ) which she had been assigned as high school
reading. It includes the stories 『人間失格』, 『桜桃』, and 『グッド·
バイ』.
To my chagrin I haven't got very far in reading it :-/
