The site of one's newsfeed doesn't impact on the content. I
use Thunderbird as a news client, and all I have to do is
go to Account/Settings (or somewhere like that) and put
in a new address. It's different if you are using a web site
like Google groups, because then Google is doing the postings
for you.

So, I have to download a soft again. That'll make me very unhappy.

Probably not. Nearly every PC has a copy of Outlook Express, and Outlook Express works reasonably well as a newsreader.
