Ben and Jim. This is my own parse program. I populated it with the
edict dictionary but intend to add grammar, number and date parsing as
well as try to give the best one or two word English definitions for
beginners learning to read Japanese.
Be wary of sending the wrong message to beginners. Telling someone
林 is read ばやし is not quite correct. Telling a beginner that 小林 is
small+wood is not a lot of help, as it's actually a family name.
Jim, we talked about the romaji before and you said you didn't like
it. I also don't like romaji but have decided to put it in along with
capitolizing the first letter of following kanji to help people
understand how kanji are paired together.
Frankly I think putting in romaji is a waste of time, and will get in
the way of a beginner's education.
I always appreciate your comments and now the comments of
sci.lang.japan. This newsgroup is a lot more active now than when it
was first formed.
Well, I joined it in 1990 (or was it 1989). It was busier then than it
is now.
I plan to parse more stuff for criticism and fun.
