Except that in my neck of the woods I doubt anybody would understand
what it means. I know I don't. I think we're being led astray by
translating "ki" as "air" rather than "spirit/mood/aura" or even
"situation". I'd go for "sensing the mood".
Ah, In my neck of the woods (Southern England) it would be completely understood. Sensing the mood is better though.
I'll try it on my daughter, a Lewes resident since the mid-80s.
