Whats the best electronic dictionary for learning japanese?
I've been learning for quite some time now and have a Canon Wordtank
G50. Its really good and has served me well for several years.
However, there are a couple of limitations that have made me want to
shop around for a new one.
First, its sometimes hard to find kanji, and i would like a model with
a stylus so i could draw the inknown kanji's. And second, You can't
eaisly find kanji combinations. If you've got 2 unknown kanji's, even
if you can look them up individually then you've got to guess the
pronounciations from multiple readings. The G50 does have a function
where if you know the first kanji you can press a button and it'll
pair this up with other kanji's but it doesn't include simple
combinations.
I'm sure there's some really good 'denshi jisho's' out there that will
help?
Mike.
I use a Nintendo DS and "Kanji sono mama" for a dictionary. I have seen some swank dictionaries with handwriting input at Bikku Kamera, but I'm not up to speed on what models and dictionaries are available. They generally run twice as expensive as the aforementioned DS and software.
