Well, it's in my GG1, which is a 1942 UK reprint of the one
dated 昭和五年三月. So definitely pre-WWII.

Well that narrows it down. Now all I have to do (well, don't _have_ to) is persuade people it doesn't translate as "falling umbrella"

It's not in my 1919 Satow or my 1867 Hepburn, ...
