Sorry, Anton. I think you've got 1-a and 2-a.
In cases of 1-b and 2-b, the actions or deeds of 'laughing' or 'smiling'
and
of 'singing' have nothing so much to do with the intended meaning of those
two sentences.
'To look at something with a contemptuous opinion' would be one of the
answers to the 1-a and 'to say a word for example, kaput in front of
something'
would be one of the answers to the 2-b.
Thanks for the comments on 1-a: I've been puzzeling over that one ever
since a friend said that after a not-bad-but-with-a-few-mistakes
rendering of "オジー自慢のオリオンビール." Is it safe to assume then she
meant something like "Jeez, that was terrible..."?
