He has an accent that results from trying to eliminate a French accent,
which isn't the same thing. He did succeed in eliminating his original
accent, but in his zeal to do so he created a new one of his own
(although it is slight, as I recall).

You've never heard me or spoken to me, and yet you evaluate my speech
and hearing. Why can't you do the same for him?
