*dh*u: is "possesor of" (m. sing.) (it's not a l.w. initial heb. or

Hijja(t) means Hajj (a synonym) i.e. Pilgrimage. it was (isi) the month of
pilgrimage in pre-islamic and islamic times.
: al hijja (month) .if this is an loanword why one of
islamic terminology has many loanwords from Hebrew, Aramaic (and Syriac),
South Arabian and Ethiopic, as well as Persian.
: the islam. months has this name?and what is the origin of islam.
: calendar?[size=18:0db068d7df][/size:0db068d7df]
there is a discussion of it in soc.religion.islam that is fairly scholarly
(at least on my part). the calendar was similar, but had intercalation of
a month every now and then to keep the lunar months in step with the
seasons. it is also reported that there was a tiem when different month
names were used in pre-islamic times.
