The character that is a pictogram of two folded pages held with
a thread going through, isn't it? Mandarin ce4 if I remember.

You know, I am becoming skeptical. Or tempted to argue that
"cheque" is a Chinese loan too. After all, a _cheque_book
looks and sounds like that character too.
