Hi,
Being a dutchman I speak English, German, French, Spanish and I manage a bit
of Arab.
I would say that for several reasons Spanish would be the choice. For one it
is a widely spoken language and second it is close to latin regarding
phonetics and roots. Pronunciation is easy to learn (like latin). Other
languages as Portuguese, French or Italian have to be practised more than
Spanish to "pick up" the slang/idioma.
regards,
Marc
