Here in Denmark I pay 20 øre, i.e., slightly less than 2p for an
SMS message, and 99 øre/min. (a bit over 9p) plus 25 øre/call
for calls. There is no subscription fee. This is by no means the
cheapest solution available.

About a week ago, I read that 2.958 billion SMS messages were
sent in Denmark during the first six months of 2004. There were
about 4.869 million cell phones registered in Denmark at the
time. The population was 5,401,177 on July 1; that's about 90.2
cell phones for every 100 persons and a bit over 100 messages per
phone every month.
