Careful with summer time - I believe there's additional stringage you can
append to the variable to tell it what day of the year it starts and ends,
but as specified it defaults to northern hemisphere [more specificaly, US]
dates.
[at least, that's how it is on unix - no idea if it will detect windows'
daylight savings setting.]
