"Richard Herring" <junk@[127.0.0.1]>
| A question which arose here during an idle lunchtime conversation: how
| do Chinese-speakers do dictation?
|
| I think that's really at least two questions:
|
| 1. is there some system of shorthand, which only gets transcribed into
| regular characters later?
|
| 2. when dictating something which must be written directly in
| characters, is there a systematic way for disambiguating homophones?
Would disambiguating homophones in such a case be any more of a problem
than during conversation?
