Really upleasant is that people do not care about their own language!
And do not explain me that you have got too much work! I have got too
much work! Even if I do not love Czech I work on it and improve our
dicts (the rest of the world can count on us taking care of our own
language!). Everyone would like to see his language as backbone of the
new system (it is a matter of pride) but no one is prepared to
actually help. If we would make Chinese or French the backbone we
would have real problems because we do not know these languages. And
when you would not help us with that Marie-Aude and Dan Lee we would
realize that we made a mistake. Then there would be English backbone
again. We would loose precious time. Our project is about "praxis" not
about "theory". It is about "results" not about "quarreling".
So if someone is "kindly" asked for help and "kindly" refuses to help
we may "kindly" loose interest in this language because people who
"kindly" speak it "kindly" are not prepared to "kindly" help us with
it. So "kindly" spoken when no Martian helps with free Martian dict
there will be no free Martian dict. You cannot expect that others will
do something for you.
It is amuzing that you instantly felt my answer as a threat :-). You
have probably realized that I am not just another guy in google
groups. More and more people use our work every day. Really bad idea
is to instigate or tease me especially when you know that I do not
like it and do not even have time for that. When someone demonstrates
"how well lets say not prepared to help" people are there for some
languages it certainly influences me in decisions I make. I am not a
computer so there is always risk I might be influenced by bad
experience from sci.lang :-). So please be careful what you write
because it also gives me an example of people who speak your language.
And do not say learn French or learn Chinese because I could say learn
Czech ;-). English is really the best choice right now believe me.
Well 50% of hardware in my PC does not run on linux (digital camera,
tablets, Technisat PCI DVB card, scanner, memory card reader, printer
etc.). Linux is fast server. Linux as desktop is OK when you write in
openoffice and listen to xmms. When I asked one linux expert how does
he edit video in linux he explained me how he edits video in
commandline app. Few people can do that. Everyone can use
http://www.virtualdub.org And that is the point. 2% have enough time
and are skillful enough to use linux. The rest is not so skillful and
we have to use simple OS :-). There is no excuse for 2 years of coding
custom apps for linux for what you can do with few clicks in MS win.
Thanks everyone for your comments and ideas. I will now return back to
our project. If you want to speak with me please use my email.
