That's ridiculous. I have always pronounced "Bjorn" and "fjord"
monosyllabically. Did you get your information from a Monty Python sketch
of Viking cowboys? "Jee-hah! Let's sail up this hee-jar fee-jord,
Bee-jorn!"

By the way, our fearless leader /dVby@/ has medial /by/.
