Stick to languages, please! Both designs could be found in circulation
until at least the mid 1960s (varied by region, naturally). I find it
difficult to believe that the large sized notes lasted into the 1940s,
but weirder things have happened. Perhaps they were spent during
someone's hard times, when that person could not afford to keep them
out of circulation.
And in any event, the last run of Peace dollars was struck in 1964 --
but that's another story entirely!

"Big money" is pre 1928, not 1937. And you could get them and
certainly the silver dollars for a buck a piece in those days.
