It seems that A.Gross's latest piece of self-advertisement (a rather
banal review used -- inevitably -- as a pretext for a few swipes at "MIT
linguistics" from Alex's accustomed position of magisterial ignorance)
has met with the respect it deserves from sci.lang -- total ignore.
As if anticipating this disappointing result, Alex not only packaged his
read-me plea with some pre-emptive insults against three sci.lang
regulars he refers to hilariously as the "Three Stooges", but actually
devoted an entire lengthy (of course) separate post (with personalized
subject line, the Usenet guttersnipe technique of choice) to
anticipating what Peter T.Daniels might respond. Well, at least this got
a response, commendably restricted to pointing out that Gross was still
a fool and a liar.
Just to anticipate in turn -- and before this gets too long -- I predict
that Alex will proceed to snort and fart in my general direction, whilst
using the remaining orifices to sing his own praises.
Or maybe he won't. Who gives a ***?
Just so you know we're still here, Alex.
Haven't missed you at all.
