On the first syllable, by most newsspeakers. But I can't help feeling it
sounds as if they were making a conscious effort, having been told that
that's the correct way. They sometimes seem to give it a bit more stress
than natural. It somehow goes against the grain of how Russian names
typically get pronounced here. Is this a matter of language differences
between Russian and Ukrainian?
