My dad (70) can remember when a lot of people in rural Missouri still had
outhouses. The toilet paper of choice then was the Sears & Roebuck catalog.
He said that the "index pages" always got used up first. If you are
familiar with the old Sears catalogs, this is humorous because the index was
always printed on soft, yellow newsprint, while the remainder of the catalog
was color glossy paper.
