I don't think so - there's a biog of him on their web site. The
tools have no relationship to leather - if he was inventing a name
then he'd have been better with Steelman or Stainlessman.

Victorinox. I think there might be two companies calling themselves
the Original Swiss Army Knife company - Victorix is certainly one of
them.
