Why should we assume what is contrary to fact? The Phoenician alphabet
is not the first ever.

No one has ever been able to find an explanation for either of the
anciently attested orders of the alphabet.
The best guess is that they first got written down as the inventor
happened to think of them.

This is not correct. There is no "reason" why a Germanic root became
_Knabe_ 'boy' in German and _knave_ 'rascally fellow' in English.

It's the one the inventor happened to think of when looking for a word
that started with that sound. (Not 'cow', but 'cattle'.)
