Best Chinese Instruction

There seem to be several instructional CD sets in the marketplace for
learning Mandarin: Pimsleur, Rosetta Stone, Tell Me More. Could the
folks who have experience with these give there opinion on the
effectiveness. Even better would be if anybody has experience with more
than one of these aids. A comparison would be nice. I'm trying to learn
again. I tried a couple years ago and concentrated on learning the
tones. After two weeks, I was still having trouble and gave up, but I
think I'll try again!
Short of getting a Chinese girlfriend, any other suggestions? Are there
any games that teach Chinese characters? I think I have attention
deficit disorder, so learning them will be hard for me.
Thanks.
