Irritated by the noise not irradiated by the radiation.
There are people who worry about mobile phone radiation but oddly they
mostly worry about the base stations and not the phones themselves.
They also rarely worry about the many other radio signals about us.
For example, I have not heard of complaints about TV broadcasts.
It is hard to explain why but phone conversations do seem more annoying
than normal conversations. I expect that it is partly volume. If two
people near you are having a normal conversation, they will normally
talk no more loudly than is required but a phone user may talk much
louder than that. However, I think that hearing just half the
conversation is especially irritating.
