The last time the Performa was in the shop, they put 9.2 on it but of
course didn't give me the installation CD. I needed the Language Kits,
so I had to go back to the disk that came with the computer, and my
separately purchased CJK kits.
Similarly, the PowerBook now has 9.2.2 on it, because they claimed you
can't update to OS X from 9.0; I told them to be sure to install all the
Language Kits, so I temporarily have the full range (most of which I
don't need -- they obviously don't interact with the 100 or so
PostScript Type 1 fonts used in *The World's Writing Systems*, which
long predate Unicode. Or, to be precise, the widespread availability of
Unicode by 1992).
