It's been around in the U.S. for years; so far as I know it
started here. At any rate, it's a product of SC Johnson &
Son, Inc., which is a U.S. company (albeit one with an early
history of international operations: Great Britain in 1914,
Australia in 1917, and Canada in 1920).
