Re: words in Arabic

I'm still working on the Arabic children's story I mentioned in an
earlier posting. I've been pretty successful at looking up almost all
the words in the story in Wehr's Arabic-English dictionary, but I've had
a lot of trouble with some of them. Here are two in particular, in
case someone can help me with them. I'll present them as written,
using the names of the letters and vowels (as given in Thatcher's Arabic
Grammar, but without worrying about dots and lines in his transliteration
of the names, since it seems the names of the letters in these words are
still uniquely recognizable without them). Also I'll write them from right
to left.

tanwin fatha sukun damma
alif ba ra za dad mim
kasra

tashdid fatha sukun
alif waw fa za sad alif fa

Why do you go out of your way to make your postings difficult to follow?

Even using the idiotic scheme of writing out the names of the
characters, on three lines, why do it right to left? We don't read
English right to left, and we don't read Arabic with the names of the
characters.

Use an intelligible transliteration system.
