My friends do understand English.

I thought you spoke to them in chinese or in german.

But I still like using instant messaging (ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, etc.) to chat with them.

Is that your medium of choice while in the same room with your friends?

I definitely prefer that to a phone call. Different media have different characteristics and properties.

Yes, and that's why I said keyboards would still have use.

No problem. I prefer CLI to GUI.

There you go again! What's 'no problem' with the CLI having to be
adapted? I meant that, to be used with voice, some things should be
adapted ('rm -rf /' is clumsy to prounouce, but alternatives are easy to
find, 'copy'/'move' being easier to pronounce than 'cp'/'mv', but care
must be taken to eliminate homophones), or some conventions could be
made ('slash' for / and 'dash' for - seem too heavy).
