They can't share the operator ``do.''
While I agree with you in prefering "do you or does someone" (in
writing, though not in speech); it is clear that they CAN and DO
"share the same operator". You continually misapprehend what English
may actually do!
With ``and'' it's okay because plural
Do you and somebody you know have high cholesterol
Agreed. Though a mùch less likely question.
