When do you think the Vulgata was written?
Based on what sources?
Greek, Aramaic, Hebrew? Which ones?
How is the availability of the Hebrew text to Jerome a refutation of his
claim that the HB is translated from the LXX?
It isn't. It just that the history and dating of the various
manuscripts of the (for me not holy, but nevertheless fascinating and
interesting) bible interests me. And the answers to such questions for
me has no impact on any possible validity or veracity of the texts,
and because I am not an anti-semite, it make no difference for that
either. It's just that I'd like to know how it all happened, although
of course we won't ever fully know that, because lots of manuscripts
simply got lost or burnt in library fires.
