Yes. The 1986 edition of Pukui and Elbert says it differently: "(b)
Mental cleansing: family conferences in which relationships were set
right (ho`oponopono) through prayer, discussion, confession,
repentance, and mutual restitution and forgiveness (Nana 60)."

The 1986 definition is closer what's understood as ho`oponopono by
non-speakers of Hawaiian in Hawai`i today. The past tense ("were set
right"), however, seems unnecessary.
