Pt _re´dea curta/larga_ 'short/wide rein' (meaning '(?)/free rein'). The
use of _larga_ for 'loose' is exceptional, I think.

Why is it the case that when someone posts a question about Spanish, very
often you give a reply about Portuguese? Just curious.

Whatever his reason is, I often find the comparison informative, the two languages being as close as they are.
