IIRC Jensen or Diringer in theri books on alphabets specualted that the
inventor just assigned numbers for the previous letters just to make it
easier to study.


Note that this website is run by a descendent of the last Maldivian kings
presently living in NZ who is strongly opposed to the current regime, and in
particular to the currently ongoing islamisation (arabisation?) of the
country. So there's a definite propaganda element in most of what he
writes.
