Then learn to use an intelligently designed GUI, the Mac. (And I've
never even moved to OS X.)
The classic Mac requires a mouse just as much as Windows, really,
simply because many applications don't have keyboard shortcuts for all
functionality. Try selecting an arbitary block text without the
mouse. Meanwhile, in many Unix environments one can do absolutely
everything without the mouse. Heck, I can typeset something in LaTeX
without even starting a graphical environment, because everything can
be done from the console.
Also, one other problem about the editing environment on Framemaker
and Word is that they don't allow regexp searches, like any serious
LaTeX editor would.
Furthermore, LaTeX is Free Software (TeX is not under the most
permissive of licenses, but is nonetheless quite libre), while
Framemaker is a proprietary solution offered by only one company.
And that's a Good Thing because ...?
Because LaTeX can be ported to every platform the end-user might have,
nad it can be extended and enhanced by anyone who wants to. Look at
CTAN to see all of the third-party functionality designed for
LaTeX. Meanwhile, Framemaker exists on just a couple of platforms, the
user can't change its source code, and the company is free to abandon
it at any time.
