How does a dictionary entry with "elma" "indicate" that
the spelling was "alma"? I would think an entry with
"alma" would be required for that.
I'd bet that 'ALMA' here is just a typo for 'ELMA'. (Sadly,
my Redhouse T-E/E-T Dictionary is much smaller and has only
the individual entries <kIzIl> 'red' and <elma> 'apple'.)
No alma is not typo. In dictionary you can find it as elma, right. Alma was
the original form.
