In very old books like Sir William Muir you find "k" systematically
used to represent "q" as opposed to, I suppose, "c" to represent "k".
Still doesn't excuse omitting the glottal stop though, except Harmony
may never have seen the word written with one.
You can still find books where Qur'an is written Kuran if you are
careless enough about what you pick up.
