| It means you can join the Linguistic Society of America, or the
| International Linguistic Association (formerly the Linguistic Circle of
| New York), etc. But the papers you submit for publication in their
| journals or for presentation at their meetings will be anonymously
| peer-reviewed just like anyone else's.

I didn't say that every linguistics society is _strict_ in its
evaluations of abstracts ...
