I commend Kent's Presidential Address to everyone who seriously reads
this forum.
Well, I dare not say to be a 'serious' reader of sci.lang but I seriously
devoted myself in getting your suggested article (by the way, I greatly
appreciated the kindness and professionality of New York Public Library
staff that retrieved it in a few minutes) and, after examining it, now I
feel like overwhelmed by the task a linguist has to engage to scientifically
achieve any reliable result. I am rather, according to Dr. Skew's remark,
'sans peur' (even if I hope 'sans reproche') in facing linguistic issues
proposed by this newsgroup. Anyway, I wish to thank you for the opportunity
to know the difficulties that hide behind the study of languages.
