It was, some 1000 years ago. There are tombs in Canton that have been
recently discovered. The tombs have been determined to belong to the
then "South Yue" king. They're now a museum.


I believe the king was a Han, not a Yue people.


There was a NanYue kingdom during early Han, and the capital of that
kingdom was centred at TuoCheng in Guangdong. It is only about 10 miles
away from my wife's home village. The area is now Hakka speaking.


The first king of NanYue named Zhao Tuo, He2Bei3 Zhen1Ding4 Ren2,
a general in Qin dynasty.
