Irish r in Scottish English

Using http://pandora.com I became aware of the Scottish artist

Before I knew he was Scottish I was in doubt whether he would be Irish
or Scottish. It turns out he is Scottish, but his syllable-final r is
of a type I'd rather expect in Irish English, not Scottish English.
