"Hu" is not a prefix. "Human" comes from the Latin, and is related to "homo".
There's is homo, and there is homo. They're different roots from different languages, but look the same. (Is there a name for it, other than coincidence?)
Good thing he wasn't asking for "woman" as he'd be saying 'wo' could be woman or lying down. This may come under gender issues...
