I notice that one of my Australian friends uses "hire" where I would
use "rent." It's not exactly in line with the theme of this thread, but
I thought it was an interesting difference in usage. For example,
specifically he says "we hired _The Godfather_" where I would say "we
rented _The Godfather_."
