Brian, I found out what richi means in OG and MG.

I'm perfectly well aware of OHG <rîhhi> and MHG <rîche>.
And MHG <rîch> without the e at the end.

No. Ignoring for a moment the fact that the name obviously
derives from Roman <Toricum>, the fact is that the OHG for
'Ziu's realm' would have been something like <Zies rihhi>,
*not* <Ziu-richi>.
An 8th century list of toponyms from Ravenna mentions Ziurichi.
Explain to me how one gets from Toricum to Ziurichi.
Ziu we know is the name of an Alamanni God. The word rîch we know means
realm. An 8th Century name for the place is also recorded as Ziurichi.
From there to Ziurîch and onto Zürich.
Are you claiming Tori morphed into Ziuri and cum to chi?
Heidi
