BTW, das Hendl is a specifically Austrian expression, isn't it?
Yes, Hendl or Hendi.
Actually, "Hendl" is not specifically Austrian but is also used
throughout "Altbayern" = Oberpfalz, Niederbayern and Oberbayern (Upper
Palatinate, Lower Bavaria and Upper Bavaria). It's a _bairisch_ word
used from the Swabian border in the West (Augsburg) to the
Austro-Hungarian border in the East.
Also Paradeiser, Erdapfel, Obers, etc. are Austrian expressions.
"Erdapfel" is also used throughout "Altbayern." In my Lower-Bavarian
dialect, the plural is pronounced "Ärepfe" (stressed on the first
syllable). In other German dialects, the "Erdapfel" (lit.,
earth-apple) is called "Grundbirne" (lit., ground-pear).
