I'd suggest that you read on computational linguistics.

For computer languages, complete specifications of the grammars are
available and *prescriptive*. I don't think that would interest
linguists too much. Computer scientists and mathematicians may be
more interested in those formal language theories than linguists.
Things like context-free grammar, regular languages.
