Observe how even though you clearly expressed the scope of your
research, only one of 5 responses posted to the group were adequate,
the others rambling on and neglecting to give self-assessment points
on the 1-7 scale.
When you have all the responses in I would very much like to know the
ratio of wordy to precise answers.
If you think the questions asked can be answered on a one-dimensional
scale from 1 to 7, there's a job waiting for you in Bush's Every Child
Left Behind Department.
The pupils of a typical school project are just after single numbers
1 to 7. They bang them into a spread*** which then throws out
some statistics for various (hundreds? of) newsgroups. Any
nonconforming answers get ignored. Do you really think anybody
will read the verbal answers at all? Let alone understand them?
Or analyze them in any way? Think about them?
The questions cannot be answered the way they asked people
to do them, that is quite true. However, if they cannot be
answered with numbers 1 to 7 what's the point in answering
them at all?
