Although I normally don't have any difficulty with the English r (in a

Is this word also hard to pronounce for native speakers (or other
foreigners), or is it just me?
No problem. I keep my lips rounded through the first two syllables.
(I'm rhotic, but not a triller.)
A similar difficulty seems to underlie the Who's 1973 album
_Quadrophenia_. At the end of the kid's narrative inside the front
album cover he says "Schizophrenic? I'm Bleeding Quadrophenic." I
don't know whether this dissimilative loss of the second /r/ is
supposed to indicate dialect or a personal speech defect. Of course,
it is regular in Sp. <propio> and the like.
