Reminds me of a friend who went to Taiwan on assignment back in the early 1980s when I was in Hong Kong. He decided to make his own Chinese name out of his (Dutch) name. His first name was Peter and his last name started with "Ba-". He came up with Bao Pida. Some local wag gave him these characters to write it down - 包皮大.

We all cracked up imagining him introducing himself to business clients with a big smile and the phrase 我包皮大 - "My foreskin is large."

That's hilarious.

There are adverts by hospitals on tv in China for those people who had 'bao-pi guo chang 包皮過長' "an overlong foreskin". As we don't get things like this in England, it just stood out as odd when I first saw them some years ago.


I should clarify that as not getting those types of adverts being on tv, hehe.
