Did you check the website? I don't think he can be 65 yet.
there is such a thing as early retirement. fritz did indeed retire
from washington in 2006. see

(i myself retired early from ohio state, in 1995, though i continued
to teach a few courses there for a few years. meanwhile, from 1985-98
i taught a course a year at stanford, and since 1998 teach three courses a
year here.)
